Strategic Dialogue for Impact: Strengthening Africa’s Fight Against Malaria

Some conversations have the power to shape the future.

On March 25, 2026, during a field visit to Ethiopia, I had the privilege—serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Malaria Consortium—to lead a delegation alongside Dr Agonafer Tekalenge, Country Director, and Dr Ayele Zewde, Technical Coordinator.

We met with H.E. Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa CDC, and his Deputy, Dr. Raji Tajudeen.

What stood out most was the clarity of purpose in the room. Our discussions focused on aligning strategic priorities, strengthening partnerships, and reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing an African-led agenda for disease control.

This alignment is critical. Sustainable progress in malaria and broader public health outcomes depends on locally driven leadership, coordinated action, and long-term collaboration across institutions.

Beyond titles and institutions, however, the mission remains simple and urgent: saving lives.
